During the off-season, your outdoor furniture should be stored in dry, well-ventilated areas following a thorough cleaning. Make sure pieces are allowed to fully drain and air dry before stacking upright indoors. We then recommend covering your pieces with a patio furniture cover —preferably one that is breathable to prevent moisture build up and the growth of mold. By properly caring for and cleaning your outdoor furniture, you can extend the lifespan of your pieces and keep them looking bold and beautiful.
The company is the world’s best How to Clean Hard Plastic Chairs supplier. We are your one-stop shop for all needs. Our staff are highly-specialized and will help you find the product you need.
An environmentally friendly option, recycled plastic, High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Marine Grade Polymer (MGP) outdoor furniture are made from 100% reprocessed materials and are excellent additions to any porch or patio. Perfect for any climate, these materials are strong, durable, and incredibly easy to care for and clean.
Wicker patio furniture remains a popular choice for many outdoor spaces. Resin wicker naturally resists the elements better than wicker made from organic plant fibers. The smooth, hard surface of resin wicker allows it to easily repel dirt and stains. Although resin wicker remains durable, the following tips will allow you to greatly extend the life of your furniture.
We recommend cleaning and waxing wrought iron furniture at least one to two times per year or more frequently as needed. This will keep your pieces looking beautiful for many seasons to come.
Wrought iron patio furniture adds rustic charm to your outdoor space. Like all other types of metal patio furniture, however, wrought iron will rust over time if not cared for properly. Whether you own a wrought iron patio set or an individual piece, all wrought iron furniture will require minor maintenance.
To remove oxidation from aluminum furniture, apply a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water, or with a metal polishing paste. If it is heavily oxidized, you may need to use a power washer or sand blaster. You may also want to refinish the cast aluminum with rust-preventing exterior spray paint.
Aluminum patio furniture has remained the top choice for consumers for nearly a century. Durable, heavy-duty, and attractive, aluminum outdoor furniture (whether cast aluminum or extruded aluminum ) requires minimal care to keep your pieces looking like new, and the wide array of available styles match any outdoor space.
If you want your teak to retain its natural golden color, use tung oil, linseed oil, or a teak sealer to treat the wood. Only use teak oil after the surface has been thoroughly cleaned. Oil should be re-applied every 2 to 3 months. With each application, your teak surface should be washed and fully dry before applying oil.
One of the most popular patio furniture materials, teak furniture is renowned for its durability against outside elements, not to mention rot and pests. While new teak furniture maintains a beautiful gold hue, its color will gradually change to a silver-gray over time, unless maintained properly.
While basic best practices apply to nearly any type of outdoor furniture—like regularly removing debris, applying a solution of mild soap and water while scrubbing gently, and rinsing thoroughly—every patio furniture material requires a slightly different care and cleaning approach. That is why our outdoor living experts have created this guide to provide you with their recommended techniques that will clean your prized patio investments without damaging them.
Wear and tear or dirt and dust, if your patio furniture has some battle scars it just means you’re doing it right and enjoying your pieces as they are intended. That said, properly cleaning and maintaining your outdoor furniture will ensure they’re able to fight that good fight for many more years to come and look good doing it.

Financing Your New Outdoor Kitchen

When choosing patio furniture, buyers have several options to match lifestyle, climate, location, and preference. Outdoor furniture made from the good old wood is timeless and classic. It is beautiful, strong, durable, and depending on the species, it is highly weather-resistant. Furniture made from aluminum and stainless steel has designs that will give your patio a contemporary vibe.
Aluminum, known for its excellent corrosion resistant quality and stainless steel, is very sleek and will add a modern touch to your space. There is also wrought iron furniture that is reminiscent of Victorian style gardens with metal benches. Tea time is a must on a glass top table with a wrought iron base. Concrete, the sturdiest and heaviest material, comes in a variety of finishes you can choose from and is easy to maintain.
Then there’s plastic patio furniture. Your run-of-the-mill monoblock chairs and tables are the world’s most common plastic furniture. Don’t be fooled, though, plastic furniture now comes in different impressive styles and various vibrant color selection. While you discover and go through the multiple options for plastic patio furniture, you'll also discover its variants and how to maintain per variant.
Abbreviated as PP, it is the material monoblock chair. Polypropylene is an addition polymer made from the propylene monomers and used in a variety of applications. One application is furniture making. Polypropylene furniture is a cheaper alternative to high-end materials like wood. It is lightweight, easy to clean, durable, and is weather-resistant when subject to different conditions. Choosing UV resistant furniture further makes it a sustainable choice.
Cleaning PP furniture is such a breeze and does not even need any special cleaners. You can easily hose it down and just let it dry. For stubborn stains, you can use a mixture of warm water, laundry detergent, and a capful of bleach per liter of water and give your furniture a good scrubbing.
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser also does wonders for hard to remove stains. Regularly cleaning and wiping with a soft cloth can make it look as good as new.
Bonus Tip: If you’re tired of your PP furniture look, you can update it in a different color using spray paint. Use a satin finish that doesn’t fade as fast as its glossy finish counterpart. You can also use fine sandpaper to remove light dents and scratches that PP furniture.
Also known as all-weather wicker or synthetic resin wicker, it is intended to look like real wicker but is more durable than natural wicker. Wicker isn’t material but a weaving technique that uses cane-like materials such as bamboo, rattan, and reed. Real wicker has a comforting allure to it that is both homey and warm. It’s lightweight as well and often paired with a fabric cushion for a more comfortable feel. As much as it is loved, it doesn’t do well in outdoor conditions, so people came up with resin wicker.
Resin wicker is sourced from different types of plastic: polyethylene, nylon, PVC, and HDPE or High-Density Polyethylene, the latter being the most durable. HDPE is more labor-intensive and can withstand higher temperature, which are properties that make resin wicker furniture better than natural wicker for outdoor use.
Like any other plastic furniture, resin wicker requires little maintenance and is very straightforward when it comes to cleaning. A pure blast of water from a hose or vacuuming regularly will ensure that no dust in between the layers per weave. A mild detergent and a small soft brush followed up with a water spray are all it takes to clean it. Bleach mixed with water to remove mold and mildew or bird droppings will also help. Others choose to apply a bit of car wax on the outer layer to give it a bit of shine.
